Here are 3 numbers that are driving conversations amongst policymakers, legislators, and lobbyists in Florida's Capital City.

New data shows that Florida’s tourism industry continues to shine as a powerhouse for economic growth. In the last months of 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis released record-breaking tourism figures from 2023 and 2024, reinforcing Florida's position as a premier travel destination.

Key Highlights from the Report:
  • $131 Billion in Visitor Spending: Tourists in 2023 contributed an unprecedented $131 billion to the state's economy, marking a 5% increase over the previous year. This includes significant contributions from both domestic visitors ($116.1 billion) and international travelers ($14.9 billion).
  • $36.9 Billion in Tax Revenue: Tourism generated substantial local, state, and federal tax revenue, translating to an average of $1,910 in tax savings per Florida household in 2023.
  • 2.1 Million Jobs Supported: One in every seven private-sector jobs in Florida is tied to tourism, with the industry providing $76.4 billion in wages and salaries in 2023.
  • 34.6 Million Visitors: In 2024, Florida welcomed 34.6 million visitors in Q3. This number reflects a 1.8% increase from 2023.

Florida’s tourism industry is more than just a revenue generator—it’s a driver of job creation and tax savings that benefit residents across the state. As tourism continues to grow, policymakers have an opportunity to invest in workforce development, infrastructure improvements, and marketing strategies to maintain Florida's competitive edge in the tourism market.

From the beaches to the theme parks, Florida remains a top destination worldwide. The numbers don’t just reflect success—they signal a call to action to ensure sustainable growth in this vital sector.
