Here are 3 numbers that are driving conversations amongst policymakers, legislators, and lobbyists in Florida's Capital City.

Florida Senators and House Representatives are starting to file bills in anticipation for the 2025 legislative session, beginning on March 4th. As Florida's legislative process continues to adapt, three key numbers reflect the activity and procedural shifts that will shape policymaking this upcoming year.

Looking Ahead

In the weeks leading up to the session period, committees will convene in December, January, and February to review proposals and refine priorities. Early fillings include bills addressing condo foreclosure loopholes, boating laws, and exemptions for religious educational institutions.

With new House rules limiting representatives to seven-stand alone bills and requiring written justifications and Senate alignment, the process will likely be more focused and competitive. These changes, introduced by House Speaker Daniel Perez, are aimed at improving "readability, usefulness, and interactivity" according to Perez's Nov. 13 memo.

As our clients begin preparing for the 2025 legislative session, it is important to monitor early proposals and committee actions closely. With an increased focus on efficiency and collaboration, the upcoming session will present both opportunities and challenges for advancing priorities. Staying informed in the pre-session months will be key for ensuring successful outcomes in the legislative process.
