Here are 3 numbers that are driving conversations amongst policymakers, legislators, and lobbyists in Florida's Capital City.

Transportation infrastructure should be a critical focus for policymakers and stakeholders in Florida. Outdated traffic systems are not only a source of daily frustration for drivers—they contribute to safety risks, economic inefficiencies, and environmental harm.

According to a report by the Florida Policy Project, more than a quarter of all crashes in Florida occur at intersections. Intersections are hotspots for collisions because they bring together vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Poor visibility, outdated signal timings, and unpredictable traffic patterns can increase these risks.

An investment in adaptive signal technologies can improve road safety. Data-driven traffic signals with advanced sensors can reduce delays and minimize conflict points, preventing accidents and saving lives. Modernizing Florida’s traffic infrastructure with intelligent systems would reduce unnecessary idling and cut emissions. Reducing fuel consumption also saves drivers money and reduces dependence on nonrenewable energy sources.

At Catalyst Strategies, we are tracking these trends and recognize the growing need for infrastructure investments that integrate smart, data-driven technologies.
